Mission Statement:

To unite longevity science and the arts to inspire a cultural change that accelerates progress in curing age-related diseases—ensuring everyone can live longer, healthier lives.

About ALSAE Foundation:

The Alliance for Longevity Science, Arts & Entertainment (ALSAE) —pronounced “all say”—is a pioneering nonprofit organization uniting the frontiers of science with the influence of culture to change how society views and supports the fight against age-related diseases.

Tagline:

Inspiring a Cultural Change to Transform Human Health

Why It Matters
  • 70% of global deaths are caused by age-related diseases.
  • Modern medicine extends lifespan but not healthspan. While people are living longer, they are often spending those extra years in poor health, enduring chronic diseases that bring suffering not only to patients but also to their families. This decline also creates an immense financial burden on healthcare systems and societies increasingly challenged to care for aging populations.
  • The risk of chronic disease rises drastically with age. After age 65, the likelihood of developing conditions such as Alzheimer’s, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes increases sharply with each passing decade.
  • Economic impact: Even a one-year increase in healthy life expectancy in the United States is estimated to be worth $38 trillion in economic value — through reduced healthcare costs, extended productivity, and improved quality of life. (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37117804/)
  • Longevity science targets the root biological mechanisms of aging — including cellular senescence, DNA damage, stem cell exhaustion, and immune decline — to prevent or reverse multiple chronic conditions at once.
Communicating about ALSAE Foundation:

The ALSAE Foundation supports the science of extending healthspan — the years we live in good health — and the cultural movement needed to make this progress accessible to all.

To ensure messaging reflects our mission and inspires meaningful connection, communications about ALSAE Foundation should emphasize:

Terminology Aligned with ALSAE’s Voice and Vision:
  • Evidence-based work grounded in geroscience, clinical research, and translational and regenerative medicine
  • Story-driven advocacy
  • Creative collaborations between scientists and artists
  • The belief that a healthier future should be equitable, inclusive, and inspiring
  • Our voice should be hopeful, visionary, and grounded in science, reflecting a mission that unites innovation and imagination for the benefit of all generations
Terminology NOT Aligned with ALSAE’s Voice and Vision:

To maintain clarity around our purpose and values, ALSAE Foundation should not be presented as endorsing or promoting or included in materials primarily discussing:

  • Immortality as a goal
  • Lifespan extension without a focus on healthspan
  • Speculative or fringe science lacking scientific rigor or peer-reviewed support
  • Biohacking or lifestyle interventions framed as curative solutions to diseases of aging
  • Commercial claims presenting products as clinically validated without supporting evidence

These topics, while sometimes adjacent in public discourse, do not reflect our mission or scientific direction.

History:

2026 — Programming: ALSAE brings its first group of Hollywood creatives to the Buck Institute for Research on Aging in January, 2026 for a day of learning and discovery, marking its inaugural program.

2025 — Launch: ALSAE officially debuts in Los Angeles in October, 2025, to unite the worlds of science and culture to accelerate progress against the diseases of aging.

2024 — Formation: Concept developed by Maria Entraigues Alan and Gary J. Alan after two decades of leadership and advocacy in the longevity field.

Pre-2024: Founders led outreach, development, and strategic initiatives within the longevity and biotechnology fields — including work with SENS Research Foundation, Lifespan Research Institute, and Methuselah Foundation — building international networks across science, philanthropy, and health innovation. In parallel, their backgrounds in the arts and media — from music, performance, and composition to film production, design, and storytelling — fostered close relationships within the creative industry.
